Day 6: FREE DAY= AEGINA ISLAND

FREE DAY = AEGINA ISLAND!!!

On today adventure we had a free day! No class or lecture to attend made me feel like it was a actual vacation. We all unanimously decided to go to Aegina island. Located approximately two hours off the coast of Athens. Our day started off by navigating through the train station. After we made it to the pier and the boat was HUGE! The scenery was literally priceless. Shades on, wind in our hair, water as blue as the sky. Arriving at the destination it was surreal that we were hundred of miles away from home. I remember just saying what a crazy oppurtunity I was privileged with getting to travel out of the country for the first time and the place being Greece being surrounded by amazing people. Everything from the beach to the people were all beautiful. The best part of the day was you could explore the island of a ATV for about $25. I didn’t get to ride it because no one wanted to do it.

Thinking back why do I need someone to determine what I do and don’t do. Instead we took a bus 20 min deep into the island. The beach we went to, the ambiance looked like we were in a Bob Ross painting. This trip is for opening and expanding our horizons. To get the full experience I tried seafood for the first time, consisting of mussels, shellfish, and octopus. It was alright in my opinion, not a fan of the texture. The water was so clear you can see the fish swimming inches apart from your body. Overall it was a great day. Only thing that would have made it better was having everyone together. At least everyone enjoyed themselves.

I was so excited about visiting a Greek island for the first time!!!!. This day I realized the beauty and variety of the landscapes in Greece. Since day one, I was impressed to see the mountains around Greece. This was the first time I really felt like a tourist because most of the people were trying to sell us something. I wondered how can Greece be going through an economic crisis given the beauty of landscapes and the amount of tourists that visit the islands and Greece every year! Each island as something to offer, but I definitely recall the fact that islands bring a sense of even a more warming welcoming by people living there. I really enjoyed the views in the port and sharing time with my group!
